Who I am - my persona

I am a retired licensed psychologist. I am a widower and so understand the emotional duress of having lost a dear one. I have three biological children and two step-children, all married and with children of their own. I live in the southwest where there is more space than people, in a hot arid area that suits me just fine. I've been around the world, but have no desire to go again. I will tell more to anyone who wishes to contact me via my e-mail address.

What I did and where

I have served in a variety of professional capacities - in vis a vis psychotherapeutic contact with patients, in administrative positions, in performing psycho-diagnostic evaluations and in teaching for over forty years. Most of my assignments were in Arizona - in Phoenix (the Valley of the Sun.) I was Chief of Counseling and Training at the Veterans Administration Regional Office; I was Manager of the Rehabilitation Division of the Arizona State Compensation Fund; I was staff psychologist at a well known rehabilitation center in Phoenix, Arizona; I was Senior Counselor at the Arizona State Department of Rehabilitation.

I taught in the Evening Division of Phoenix College, teaching a variety of courses in psychology. I was a consultant to the Department of Economic Security, Disability Section - performing psycho-diagnostic evaluations to assist that department to determine eligibility for disability and other benefits. My last position was as a staff psychologist with a Pain and Stress Management Center at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. I was on the staff of this hospital, on the staff of the Scottsdale Memorial Hospital - Osborn Campus and of the Scottsdale Memorial Hospital - North Campus.
I have retired from these staff positions. I, also, retired my license to practice psychology in Arizona and my certification from the Council for the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
I continue to hold a lifetime Instructor's Certificate to teach in all or any of the community colleges in Maricopa County, Arizona. I hold a lifetime teaching certificate to teach in any high school in Colorado.
I have a Doctor of Philosophy degree, a Master's Degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree, having attended the University of Colorado, Northern Colorado University, Denver University, Arizona State University and the Professional Studies Institute in Arizona.

My present work - play, really

Presently I work at writing - play would be more the description. I have written three books, none of which have been published. Getting published these days is more difficult than living in a vacuum. I continue to try. One book is my late wife's authorized biography called "Corner of Time". Her life was more interesting than mine is. Another book is an action book, but don't expect a synopsis in this space. It is called "The Final Touch". The third is a book that was prompted by a chapter in my doctoral dissertation. It defines and discusses a third dimension in human personality - the spiritual dimension. I am especially proud of it, since it gives me a platform to discuss the most important part of each of us, our spiritual part - always left out in the various other theories of personality. I included the missing part, giving it the greater prominence and integrating it with the conscious/unconscious paradigm.

You'll have an opportunity to know more of this latter book in another section of my site. It is titled "Why Not Do God?" Other than my writing, my time is spent enjoying my family - getting joy from each and every one of them, sisters, brothers, children and grandchildren. It is good family, and I am proud of it and of being a part of it.

My philosophy

My philosophy is simple, yet encompassing. I believe that everyone must accept that all life has meaning and worth; that each has a right to self control; that each should feel that they are part of a community and have a right to feel free to contribute to that community; that they know they are in charge of what happens to them when they are ill or infirm; and most importantly, that they know that life exists after death, and that they will have an eternal existence. Anything less than this is a denial of our humanness.

Many other things as I think of them to share

I will not give consultive advice; but I will share with all information regarding their psychological and personality makeup, share with all the ways in which we get into emotional distress - and suggest ways out of it. I will share parts of my book "Why Not Do God?", giving excerpts from it occasionally - as I feel giving is apropos. Perhaps some will want to purchase a copy of it for their "must read" library shelves. This is an issue that will be given much thought, though. I don't plan to make this page a commercial project. I hope to make it profitably informative and helpful. My e-mail box is always open for suggestions and critiques.

I will pass on information I glean from a variety of sources - information that may give insight, help and quiet to a disquieted mind. I will accept contributions that may fall into this plan - only if the contributions are duly credited to the person(s) who penned or said the original words.

Places I will chart to help you in your travels

Because there are many sources of help and information to assist us in understanding who we are, what makes us as we are, and there are fountains of wisdom from which we can drink our fill of knowledge, I shall place links to help you find your way to them. I will help you chart your way on your travel to peace and quiet. Should you (and I know you will) find your help and information, I urge you to share it with all with whom you disclose a kindred spirit. I am reminded of an old saying, "Do something good when no one is looking. Don't tell anyone about it." Practice this good every day, and you will be rewarded seven-fold. Cast the gift of a lovely thought into the heart of a friend, and their lovely thought will be your reward.

Lost wayfarer, homeless spirit open my page often to see what I have in store for you. I hope never to disappoint you. Now, turn the page to see the links I have charted for you.
